ABOUT THE QUALIFICATION
What Is CITF® and Why Does It Matter?
The Certificate in International Trade and Finance (CITF®) is an internationally recognised Level 3 qualification awarded by the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF). It is designed for trade, export, and commodity professionals who need a thorough, practical grounding in international trade procedures, legislation, and finance.
CITF® equips you with the technical knowledge to confidently navigate the world of trade finance — from understanding key documents and trade terms to applying risk management principles in real workplace scenarios.

CITF® is structured to develop both conceptual understanding and practical application. Students will engage with real-world case study scenarios, ensuring learning translates directly to the workplace.
Programme Structure
CITF® comprises two mandatory units, both of which must be successfully completed to achieve the full certificate. Each unit is independently assessed and covers a distinct, complementary dimension of international trade and finance.

International Trade Financing and Documentation (ITFD)
Assessment
How You Will Be Assessed
Each unit is assessed through a one-hour examination combining multiple-choice questions and applied case study scenarios. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass each unit.
One per unit (ITPS and ITFD)
30 marks from multiple-choice questions
2 case studies × 5 linked MCQs each
Per unit requirement to achieve the certificate
Each examination is 60 minutes in duration. The case study questions test your ability to apply trade finance knowledge to realistic
workplace scenarios — preparation through practice papers is strongly recommended.

The programme runs from 2 July 2026 to 3 August 2026. Unit 1 (ITPS) is covered in the first five sessions, followed by Unit 2 (ITFD) across the remaining five sessions.
