In collaboration with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford the prestigious business university in the United Kingdom, Emirates Institute for Finance (EIF) offers an intensive Leadership Development Programme (LDP) that is designed to train outstanding leaders and managers in the banking and financial services industry through the development of personal leadership and professional skills.

General Manager - EIF
H.E. Noura Alblooshi

After successfully running this programme last year, this year EIF is selecting another 25 senior and executive level UAE nationals from financial industry instead of banking to attend training sessions at Oxford university through its distinguished Leadership Development Programme. We have structured the programme along three overarching themes that are fundamental to effective strategic leadership: mind of the strategist, leading self and others, and industry disruption.

We encourage all leaders in the UAE to participate and all financial institutions to nominate qualified middle to senior level management to benefit from this world-class programme that realizes sustainable growth, inspires effective leadership and instills professional development.

In a time of turbulent change, organizations need to invest in their potential leaders to sustain competitive advantage. The leadership Development Programme (LDP) organized by one of the prestigious business schools in UK Saïd Business School, University of Oxford is the one that we believe will facilitate the needed development.

For the first time EIF is committed to partner with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, to grow and develop Banking Industry leaders in the Emirates by immersing them in a custom-designed residential programme in Oxford.

To create a challenging, relevant and impactful curriculum, we have designed an 8-day programme outline addresses themes such as disruption, change, and strategic thinking.

The Programme is structured across three overaching themes and draws from leading edge research. The themes are: industry disruption, a red thread that runs through the whole programme, mind of the strategist: and leading self and others.

Together, these themes constitute a holistic development experience that can help participants become well-rounded, effective leaders, The sessions are designed and delivered in a challenging, thought-provoking way that is suitable and engaging for senior leaders.

Strategic Leadership in the Era of Disruption

EIF has partnered with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford to design a two-week executive development programme for outstanding managers from the Gulf region. The Leadership Development programme faculty team has created an impactful programme based on action-oriented experiences and participant-centered classroom discussions.

DEVELOPING WINNING STRATEGIES

The first half of the programme "Mind of the strategist in a disrupted industry". It includes sessions that strategic competence of leaders such as strategic alignment, understanding technology disruption, and balancing competing strategic demands. It also contains sessions that are directly relevant to financial services, such as a session on platforms and ecosystems, and another on orchestrating winning performance in financial services. We also include sessions on the important themes of strategic thinking and decision-making competencies of leaders such as the session on the important themes of strategic thinking and decision-making competencies of leaders such as the session on strategy under uncertainty, and the session on effective decisions on leading self-such as building emotional resilience and leadership body language. The theme of disruption is included explicitly or implicitly in these sessions and will be a red thread across the whole programme.

DYNAMICS OF INDUSTRY DISRUPTION

The second half is labelled "How leaders deal with industry disruption". It includes sessions that focus on important leadership competencies such as aligning operations and people with strategy, and leading change and innovation. The focus on strategic thinking initiated in the first half continues with a session on how to deal with wicked, undefined and multi-dimensional problems. We also examine applied cases of industries that are dealing with disruption such as the auto industry and the space industry.

LEADING TEAMS AND BUSINESS THROUGH DISRUPTION

Finally, we end the programme with a hands-on, theatre-based session based on the work of Shakespeare "The tempest"'. The tempest is a metaphor for technology disruption and the change it brings to industries. This session is intended to help participants integrate a lot of the ideas they engaged with through the programme, and understand as leaders, how they can more effectively deal with disruption at the individual and organizational level. Overall, the programme aims to inoculate leadership knowledge and competencies that can help the participants become effective and well-rounded leaders and strategists.
